CHECKSUM
Refers to a numerical value that is calculated based on the contents of the data with which it is associated. If the data is altered in any way after the checksum is calculated, users should assume the data is compromised. This security protocol is used to verify sensitive data as it is transmitted or disseminated. Checksum is often systematically used in databases.
