The mining explosives company has implemented Ceridian’s Dayforce software across 13 countries, consolidating its disparate systems into a customised, cloud-based human resources and payroll platform.

Having completed phase one, Orica is now set to deploy Dayforce across the rest of its global operations bringing the software to 47 countries and 12,500 employees in total.

Dayforce’s HR and payroll platform includes a mobile app, physical clocks and software-enabled tablets on Orica’s sites. This, Orica claims, has improved employees’ access to leave and payroll.

The implementation was carried out with partners Deloitte and Brisbane-based consultancy Think Best Practice.

Stacey Brewer, VP of HR Operations at Orica, said the implementation is designed to bring a “consistent global user experience”.

Orica announced plans to deploy Dayforce shortly before its promotion of Rachael Sandel from head of digital workplace to group chief information officer last year.

At the time, Sandel was also said to be focused on facilitating a “major upgrade” to Orica’s SAP S/4 HANA enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Three months later, the company revealed that it had been accepted into Microsoft’s Copilot early adopter program that opened in May last year. Its 2023 annual report also said it was strengthening its internal governance around AI adoption.
