Nike is investigating a possible cyber incident after the WorldLeaks group claimed it stole data from the company’s systems.

Nike is probing a potential security breach after the WorldLeaks cybercrime group claimed it accessed and stole data from the company’s systems. The footwear and apparel giant said it has launched an investigation to assess the impact and verify the claims.

“We always take consumer privacy and data security very seriously. We are investigating a potential cybersecurity incident and are actively assessing the situation.” reads a company’s statement.

The WorldLeaks group added the athletic footwear and apparel firm to its Tor leak website on January 22, and on January 24, published 1.4TB of data (188.347 files).

WorldLeaks is an extortion-focused cybercrime group that steals company data to pressure victims into paying, threatening public leaks if they refuse. The group emerged in 2025 after rebranding from Hunters International, a ransomware gang active since 2023. Following increased law-enforcement pressure, it abandoned file encryption and shifted entirely to data theft and extortion, claiming hundreds of victims to date.

Recently, Under Armour, another American company that designs, manufactures, and sells sportswear, athletic shoes, and fitness-related accessories, suffered a data breach

TechCrunch reported that Under Armour is investigating a data breach after 72M customer records were posted online. The stolen data, linked to a November breach claimed by the Everest ransomware gang, was later confirmed by Have I Been Pwned, which notified affected individuals.
