Equifax, a global specialist in data, analytics and technology, has joined forces with Norton, a renowned consumer Cyber Safety brand, in response to escalating concerns surrounding identity theft. This collaboration aims to ensure Australians’ credit information and identities remain safeguarded as online threats grow.

This partnership integrates Norton’s identity monitoring and protection into Equifax’s Credit & Identity Protect subscriptions. With this integration, a new service titled ‘Identity Protection powered by Norton’ will be introduced to significantly strengthen the security offered to Equifax customers. Taking Norton’s recent finding into consideration, which reveals that 63% of Australians are anxious about identity theft, the augmentation of Norton’s services into Equifax’s platforms promises added peace of mind for consumers.

Equifax’s clients will gain access to monitoring capabilities that span beyond easily identifiable sites and marketplaces, thanks to Norton’s expertise. Norton’s Identity Protection service incorporates monitoring of private forums, social websites, the deep web, and the dark web. Using a blend of human intelligence and advanced technology, this service identifies exposed information and stolen personal data.

Identity Protection powered by Norton will further scan the dark web for customers’ personal information and promptly inform consumers if any of their details are discovered. The Identity Protection system has a broad-ranging reach, with the capacity to monitor up to 52 different personal details, maintain an eye on an additional 120 data points, and provide social media surveillance for up to seven accounts on major platforms.

Suellen Heintz, General Manager of Product Operations and Transformation at Equifax, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership: “As instances of data breaches and cyberattacks climb, it’s little wonder consumers are increasingly concerned about the safety of their personal information. We are thrilled to be working with Norton to bring our customers a market-leading solution that helps them manage their credit profile, safeguard their personal information, and reduce their risk of becoming a victim of identity crime.”

In the same vein, Mark Gorrie, Managing Director APAC at Norton, voiced his concerns about the prevalent misperception among Australians regarding their data safety. He added, “The risk of identity theft, unauthorised account access and further targeted scams is very real for most Australians. The partnership of Norton and Equifax brings together the capabilities of the leading Cyber Safety brand and the leading provider of credit information to discover the use of personal data and proactively alert Australians that are at risk of identity theft.”

This collaboration further builds on Norton and Equifax’s previous partnership. ‘Identity Protection powered by Norton’ is now available to both new and existing customers.
