The conclusive document titled “Governing AI for Humanity,” published by the UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence, outlines how artificial intelligence can be most beneficial for mankind, with a particular focus on marginalized individuals often omitted from such dialogues.
Compiled after an extensive engagement process involving over 2,000 participants across the globe and following the preliminary report issued last December, this report is presented as the most extensive and diverse panel of specialists ever assembled to articulate society’s hopes related to AI.
The finalized document lays out a blueprint for mitigating risks associated with AI and ensuring equitable access to its benefits worldwide. Among various proposals, it advocates for establishing the initial comprehensive and widely accessible framework for AI governance through international collaboration. Additionally, the report offers seven recommendations to rectify existing deficiencies in AI governance and urges all nations and stakeholders to collaborate in supervising AI to foster the advancement and preservation of human rights.
