The two new security heads will work with Tyro Payments CISO Manasseh Paradesi and the information security leadership team to execute and maintain Tyro’s information security strategy program, a spokesperson for the Sydney-based fintech told iTnews.

The head of security operations and head of security advisory and architecture will also support Tyro’s “broader technology team,” including its CTO Paul Keen, according to the postings.

The spokesperson said that, for Tyro’s new head of security operations, supporting the 600-staff organisation “moving securely to the cloud,” would be a large focus.

“Simplify and migrate tech to the cloud,” is one of Tyro’s three initiatives in its plans to “maximise value from existing capabilities and set up for future growth,” over the next 12 months, it said in October; the other two initiatives are to “drive go-to-market and cost discipline” and to “close last gaps in existing products”.

The Tyro spokesperson added that the head of security operations would also be responsible for “execution and management of security engineering, application security, threat and vulnerability management, and incident detection and response cyber security functions.

“This role is to ensure Tyro’s security platforms are configured and operating effectively to protect Tyro’s data, applications and infrastructure from modern-day threats & vulnerabilities, and cyber incidents are proactively managed to keep us secure.”

The head of security operations posting states the role will be “accountable for defining and execution of the Information Security Strategy including a “future state” and a risk-prioritised implementation roadmap, supported by other teams and third parties,”

This will involve supporting Tyro’s “security advisors, architects and data governance who work with internal teams to conduct security assessments, and lead projects to enhance security on behalf of the information security team.”
