Dr. Amit Phull, head medical experience officer for Doximity, a company offering a ChatGPT version compliant with HIPAA, mentioned that their technology can significantly lessen the time healthcare providers dedicate to administrative tasks. With two million users, 80% of whom are physicians, Doximity reported that their platform, as surveyed with around 500 clinicians, could save them 12 to 13 hours weekly on administrative duties.
“In my ER’s eight-hour shift, I typically see between 25 to 35 patients. Therefore, if I were highly efficient and saved those 12 to 13 hours, the increase in the number of patients I can attend to is substantial,” explained Phull.
Phull noted that clinicians who regularly submit requests for prior authorization often lament the “intentionally obscure” and burdensome process, which can, at times, compel doctors to opt for an alternative treatment approach for their patients. Frequently, clinicians find themselves trapped in a recurring loop of submitting pre-authorization requests, facing denials, and launching appeals – all of which demand consistent paperwork tracking while ensuring patients are kept informed of developments.
