The telco said in a statement that it “continually evaluates our organisational structure to ensure it is the right one for meeting our customers’ needs. ”

“We have recently undertaken a review and are taking steps to simplify our business while still investing in those areas we know matter to our customers,” it said.

Some teams across the business will be realigned, the statement said.

Earlier this week, when owner Singtel released its Q3 2024 results, it revealed a $61 million provision to cover the cost of Optus’ November 2023 network outage.

One unit hit by the cuts is Optus’ consumer electronics installation operation, O-Team.

O-Team’s website carried an announcement in January that the installation of wired devices that needed an electrician would end on January 30.

According to a post by O-Team senior management partnerships, Scott Lindsay, staff have been told the unit will be wound up in March.

“Today [the] Optus O-Team we had grown over the last 18 months was advised that our time had come to an end and we would cease to trade past March 2024. It was great to be part of the journey but life has many twists and turns,” he posted on LinkedIn.
