LockBit Creator Rostislav Panev Accused for Substantial Global Ransomware Losses

An individual holding citizenships of both Russia and Israel is facing charges in the U.S.

An individual holding citizenships of both Russia and Israel is facing charges in the U.S. for purportedly serving as the mastermind behind the now-defunct LockBit ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) scheme from its establishment in 2019 until at least February 2024.
Aged 51, Rostislav Panev was apprehended in Israel earlier this August and is presently awaiting extradition, as per the announcement by the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ).
