Sophos Firewall Config Studio is a new and hugely popular free tool that all Sophos Firewall customers and partners can use to view, edit, compare, analyze, and migrate firewall configurations.
It’s very easy to use, incredibly powerful, and can save you a lot of time if you’re managing multiple firewalls or migrating firewalls.

What’s New
This release introduces several enhancements to help administrators work more efficiently with firewall configurations. You can now merge baseline configurations with industry-specific templates, making it easier to build configurations tailored to environments such as Education, Retail, and Manufacturing. We’ve also enhanced Global Search with one-click navigation, added object reference visibility in configuration reports, improved configuration comparison with multi-file diff support, and introduced Dark Mode for a more comfortable user experience.

Improved configuration reports
Configuration reports now display referenced object values and details within Firewall, NAT, and TLS rules, providing greater visibility and context during configuration reviews.
Migration insights
Config Studio now provides migration conversion insights, including the overall percentage of configuration successfully migrated. A detailed report highlights what was migrated, what was not, and the recommended next steps for any non-migrated items. In many cases, non-migrated entries consist of default objects or unused configuration elements that do not require further action.
Multi-file configuration diff
Upload and compare multiple configuration files to identify changes across different points in time. The enhanced diff view provides a clear timeline of configuration changes, making it easier to track modifications and understand configuration evolution.
Backup-restore compatibility, Flexi module, and port speed reference
Quickly verify backup-restore compatibility and port layouts across different Sophos Firewall models. The tool also provides compatibility information for Flexi Port modules on 1U and 2U appliances, along with supported port speeds and standards, helping you identify which firewall models and modules support interfaces such as 25G, 40G, 100G connectivity.
Dark Mode
Enjoy a modern Dark Mode experience designed to improve usability and reduce eye strain during extended use.
Issues Resolved
- Fixed an issue where VLANs over LAG interfaces were not created because the VLAN referenced the LAG name instead of the underlying hardware interface name.
- Fixed an issue where Users and Activities were not displayed correctly in Web Filter policies.
