From where does Apple’s Intelligence originate?

The source of Apple’s Intelligence is not purely Apple’s cognition. Just like numerous other artificial intelligence (AI) tools, it also draws on all the collective human knowledge shared on the internet because that information helps shape the AI models the company develops.

Clarifying this, the corporation stated the origin of the data it utilizes when it introduced Apple Intelligence last month: “We educate our foundational models using authorized data, incorporating data curated to enrich specific characteristics, together with openly accessible data gathered by our web-crawler, AppleBot,” Apple detailed.

Apple is not the only entity employing this method. By leveraging the public internet in this manner, they are following a similar course to other players in the industry. However, this strategy is already leading to debates between content creators and AI enterprises as both sides wrestle with issues surrounding copyright, fair use, and the degree to which online data is commercialized to further enrich the coffers of dominant tech companies.
