Fastly, the edge cloud platform, has announced significant enhancements to its Managed Security Service. The company will now provide coverage of its Bot Management solution and implement an industry-leading 30-minute time-to-notify service level agreement (SLA).

The newly released Bot Management solution is designed to combat automated attacks on the edge, significantly reducing the risk of fraud, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, account takeovers, and other forms of abuse. Fastly’s new time-to-notify SLA will facilitate proactive alerts and mitigation of critical security incidents within 30 minutes of detection, often before an event is discovered by the client. While other providers’ SLAs may cover partial critical incidents like DDoS attacks, Fastly’s Managed Security Service pledges notification for all critical web application security incidents.

This development affirms Fastly’s commitment to addressing complicated cybersecurity issues. Traditionally, the most common SLA with managed security providers has been time-to-respond, outlining the speed of a provider’s team response after a client raises a critical security incident. This can be problematic as, with the speed and upsurge of automated web application attacks, enterprise security teams can struggle to discover attacks proactively. This reality, paired with the increasing cybersecurity staff shortage, makes the role of a managed security provider that can leverage a bot management solution to actively combat automated attacks even more indispensable.

It offers customers continuous monitoring and proactive mitigation of web application attacks, underpinned by a 15-minute response SLA and now a 30-minute time-to-notify SLA for critical security incidents. The service includes threat hunts, comprehensive post-event reporting, and ongoing strategic security consultations to bolster an organisation’s overall security posture.

Users of Fastly’s Managed Security Service will have access to the Fastly Customer Security Operations Centre (CSOC), a global, follow-the-sun security organisation which offers 24/7 monitoring, active mitigation, and proactive threat hunts. They will also receive strategic insights and guidance from Fastly Security Technical Account Managers and gain access to the Fastly Security Research Team, which uncovers threat insights from across the industry and the company’s customer base.
