ColorTokens Once Again Named a Leader and Outperformer in the 2026 GigaOm Radar for Microsegmentation
Microsegmentation has moved well beyond a narrow infrastructure conversation. Today, teams need to enforce policy across cloud workloads, data centers, user endpoints, containers, and OT and IoT environments without creating more operational friction than security value.
That broader requirement is exactly why we built the ColorTokens Xshield Enterprise Microsegmentation Platform the way we did. It is also why recognition like this year’s GigaOm Radar matters.
ColorTokens has been recognized as both a Leader and an Outperformer in the 2026 GigaOm Radar for Microsegmentation, and is the only vendor to score a perfect 5.0 across every single key feature. The report also classifies ColorTokens as an Outperformer due to its consistent year-over-year releases and development across key and emerging capabilities.
For us, that recognition reflects the depth of the platform and the realities customers face as environments become more distributed and complex.
In this year’s report, GigaOm evaluated 15 leading microsegmentation vendors on key capabilities. Here is how ColorTokens performed:

What I appreciate about this year’s report is that it reflects how complex this category has become. Microsegmentation is no longer just about isolating workloads. It is about building enforceable policy across very different environments, with enough context and flexibility to make those policies usable in the real world.
GigaOm specifically highlighted several areas where Xshield stood out:
Automated discovery and mappingXshield’s dynamic discovery and mapping capabilities surface assets, applications, and dependencies across environments. It supports discovery through agents, CMDB integrations, cloud integrations, container platforms, IP scanning, DHCP, identity tools, and microservice API discovery.
Traffic and behavior analysis Understanding traffic flow remains central to making microsegmentation effective. GigaOm evaluates how solutions understand traffic behavior in the context of the wider environment, which ultimately determines how well organizations can contain lateral movement.
Policy definition engineThe report calls out Xshield’s ability to define policy at individual, group, and global levels, along with a policy learning engine that recommends and classifies policies by use case. It also highlights the platform’s ability to generate policy recommendations from real-time data, including suggested ports, paths, and other network attributes.
Network-based policy enforcementGigaOm highlights Xshield’s enforcement depth here, including policies based on port, protocol, and process. The platform also supports Layer 7 enforcement using API attributes, HTTP methods, URIs, and paths.
IntegrationsIntegrations matter because microsegmentation does not operate in isolation. Xshield’s broader architecture reflects that need to work as part of a larger enterprise security stack.
Identity-based policy enforcementThis remains one of the most important shifts in the category. Identity-based enforcement allows access decisions to be governed by attributes such as operating system type, patch status, VM name, Active Directory groups, labels, tags, and namespaces rather than network constructs alone.
That Outperformer designation also reflects the pace of innovation in the platform.
GigaOm attributes this to ColorTokens’ consistent year-over-year releases and developments across key and emerging features. That matters because the microsegmentation market continues to evolve, and organizations are making platform decisions that need to hold up over time.
What’s Next
To our customers: thank you for challenging us to solve real problems. To the GigaOm team: thank you for a clear and grounded assessment of a category that keeps getting broader and harder to evaluate well.
To CISOs and security leaders: this recognition reinforces something important. Microsegmentation decisions should be made around coverage, control, and operational fit. If your environment spans cloud, endpoints, containers, and OT or IoT, that scope matters. If your policies need to be flexible enough to reflect identity and business context, that matters too.
Being “Breach Ready” means more than surviving a breach. It means containing it. Withstanding it. Minimizing business impact. And recovering stronger than before.
