Marks & Spencer (M&S) verified that it’s overseeing a digital incident following various client grievances surfacing on social media.

Marks and Spencer Group plc (M&S) proclaimed that it has been overseeing a digital incident in recent days with the support of external cyber security professionals. Customers are reporting disruptions impacting card transactions, gift vouchers, and M&S’s Click and Collect service throughout electronic payment platforms.

“Marks and Spencer Group plc (the Company, or M&S) has been dealing with a digital incident over the past few days. Upon detecting the incident, some minor, temporary adjustments to our store operations were required to safeguard customers and the business, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Crucially, our stores are operational and our website and app are functioning as usual.” reads the Cyber Incident Update posted on the London Stock Exchange.

“The Company has enlisted external cyber security specialists to aid in investigating and managing the incident.”

The business promptly notified the relevant data protection supervisory bodies and the National Cyber Security Centre about the incident. No technical details regarding the attack were disclosed.
