Researchers specializing in detecting threats have provided additional information about a previously exposed malicious operation carried out by the China-affiliated MirrorFace hacker group. This campaign aimed at a diplomatic entity within the European Union using a backdoor called ANEL.
This incursion, identified by ESET in the latter part of August 2024, specifically targeted a diplomatic institution in Central Europe. The attackers utilized bait related to the Word Expo, an upcoming event set to commence in the region.
