Thales was recognized with a 2026 Google Cloud Partner of the Year award in the Infrastructure Modernization: Sovereign Cloud category. This award highlights partners who have had a significant impact within the Google Cloud ecosystem, particularly in contributing to secure, compliant, and sovereign cloud solutions.
As digital sovereignty becomes a defining priority – particularly across Europe and in highly-regulated industries – Thales is recognized as an industry leader in helping organizations modernize securely while maintaining control over their data, operations, and compliance posture.

The Thales and Google Cloud Partnership

Thales works with Google Cloud to enable teams to maintain their digital sovereignty without slowing cloud adoption or organic growth.
The collaboration began in 2020 as an initiative to improve enterprise data privacy across public and private clouds with advanced data protection and encryption.
Over the years, these innovations have included:

The integration of CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager for Google Cloud, allowing customers to maintain full control over encryption keys beyond Google infrastructure.
Thales strategic partnership with Google Cloud through the setting of the joint company S3NS, supporting European cloud sovereignty initiatives through the creation of a locally compliant, trusted cloud offering in France, helping many French companies migrate to the cloud safely.
And extended digital sovereignty to Google Workspace by supporting it with Client-Side Encryption (CSE), external key management, and quantum-resilient data protection.

Through consistent innovations, the Thales and Google Cloud partnership has grown to embody a “sovereignty-by-design” approach where data control is built into cloud architecture at the outset.
Sebastien Cano, Senior Vice President of Cyber Security Products at Thales, said:
“Thales helps organizations protect sensitive data, maintain control, and meet evolving regulatory demands while accelerating innovation. Today, customers retain full control of their data with encryption keys under their own management, protecting against unauthorized access and jurisdictional risks. With the CipherTrust Data Security Platform, teams can discover, classify, and secure data across cloud environments using AI-powered features and machine learning, while Luna Cloud HSMs provide high-assurance, hardware-backed key protection. This award underscores our commitment to delivering trusted solutions that ensure digital sovereignty and strong security in collaboration with Google Cloud.”

S3NS, the Future of Trusted Cloud

Hélène Bringer, President of S3NS, said:
“S3NS is no longer a vision—it is an industrial-grade solution, sovereign-certified by the French government, already supporting the most critical workloads of customers across all industries. Through our strategic partnership, we combine the technological power of Google Cloud with a trusted environment where every layer of security is fully controlled. With PREMI3NS, the Trusted Cloud by S3NS, we provide organizations with a sovereign, highly secure cloud foundation to confidently accelerate their digital transformation.”
As of today, S3NS offers the broadest range of services available on the market among SecNumCloud-qualified cloud providers in Europe, following its official qualification on December, 2025. The offering will continue to expand rapidly, notably with VertexAI coming as of Q3, as well as strategic partnerships with Independent Software Vendors. S3NS now serves more than seventy customers across critical sectors, including major insurance groups, financial and industrial leaders as well as French Tech companies and public sector. This momentum comes at a time when sovereignty and security challenges are intensifying.

Encryption keys and advanced protection of sensitive data

Today, customers have full control over sensitive data, with encryption keys under their own management. This secures against both unauthorized access and jurisdictional overreach.
CipherTrust Data Security Platform allows teams to discover, classify, and protect data across cloud environments, using AI-powered features and machine learning to accelerate and optimize the process. This collaboration automates essential tasks, helping organizations stay compliant across regions with the strictest data privacy standards. And Luna Cloud HSMs provide additional high-assurance, hardware-backed key security for cloud adopters.
These are only a few of the notable ways in which Thales security solutions and Google Cloud come together for cloud sovereignty.
The results are, and will continue to be, accelerated cloud adoption, a naturally compliant cloud data architecture, and the universal ability to migrate to Google Cloud without compromising security or control.

“The Google Cloud Partner Awards honor the strategic innovation and measurable value our partners bring to customers,” said Kevin Ichhpurani, President, Global Partner Ecosystem and Channels, Google Cloud. “We are proud to name Thales a 2026 Google Cloud Partner Award winner, celebrating their role in driving customer success over the last year.”
