Greetings to our broadcast series, CafĂ© with the Panel. My name is Alicia Malone, Public Relations Senior Manager at the PCI Security Standards Panel. It’s time again to select the Panel’s succeeding Advisory Board for the term 2025 – 2027. Every couple of years, the Panel calls upon its Principal and Associate Taking part Organizations, and Affiliate Members to suggest and elect companies to act as strategic guides for the association. Joining me today to discuss all the fresh elements in this year’s voting process is PCI SSC’s Director of Engagement, Diana Greenhaw. Welcome, Diana.
Diana Greenhaw: Greetings, Alicia. I’m delighted to be here today to chat about the forthcoming election.
Alicia Malone: Let’s delve in. What’s different this year for the Advisory Board?
Diana Greenhaw: The most significant change for this term is the enhancement of the Advisory Board from 52 spots to 64 positions. Acknowledging the continually shifting requirements of the payments sector, the expansion of the Advisory Board provides a broader spectrum of perspectives for the Panel. It will consist of 26 Principal Taking part Organization positions, that is, organizations that have partnered with PCI SSC at the highest membership tier.
Additionally, it will include 26 chosen positions. These are positions that are elected by our entire membership from all organizations that submit nominations. Lastly, there are 12 appointed positions designated by our Executive Committee ensuring a mix of views across sectors and globally.
We’ve also adjusted the membership categories to create a more inclusive board reflecting today’s industry composition. The new term for the Advisory Board will include representatives from the subsequent fresh membership categories:
Retailers – there will be eight spots encompassed in this category, involving organizations that receive payments from PCI taking part brands for the offering of goods and services through any transaction platform.
Next, we have the Financial Institution category. There will be eight spaces in this category. Financial institutions are licensed establishments engaged in offering financial services, encompassing payment account acquisition, issuance, deposits, loans, etc.
Then we have the Hardware and/or Software Solution Providers and Suppliers category with a total of eight seats. These are suppliers that design or provide point-of-sale hardware or software solutions to industry participants.
Subsequently, the Service Provider section will have eight seats available. These are firms involved in the handling, storing, or transmission of payment data from PCI taking part brands on behalf of another entity.
Furthermore, we introduce a new category called “multi-category”. There are 12 seats in this category, involving establishments that fall into two or more of the categories mentioned earlier.
Lastly, the “Other” group will have eight positions. These are entities engaged in processing payments from PCI taking part brands but don’t fit into the prior specified categories.
Alicia Malone: I believe we’ve received feedback previously regarding the appropriate category selection when a firm doesn’t smoothly align with any one of these categories. The addition of the multi-category slot this year should prove very beneficial. Diana, guide us through the process.
Diana Greenhaw: Certainly. From February 3 to February 28, the nomination phase will be conducted. During this duration, primary contacts at PPOs, APOs, or Affiliate Member enterprises can self-propose their organization and pick their membership category via the Panel’s member portal on our website. Each Principal or Associate Taking part Organization, or Affiliate member can nominate one Primary and one Alternate representative.
Subsequently, post the nomination period closure, the election phase will take place from March 17 through March 28. The Primary contact at every eligible membership enterprise can cast a single vote for each section on their ballot paper. If you’re the person responsible for casting those votes, it’s recommended to carefully review your selections since alterations post-submission won’t be permitted.
Lastly, the freshly chosen Board will be informed in April, officially appointed, and disclosed by June 1, 2025. Our primary interaction with this new Board will occur later in June.
Alicia Malone: Marvelous. Diana, what are some of the benefits of being part of the PCI SSC Advisory Board?
Diana Greenhaw: The Advisory Board plays a crucial role in the success of the PCI Panel. They bring industry, geographical, and technical perspectives to our strategies, plans, and undertakings. Most crucially, the Board holds the power to vote on the publication of new standards and significant revisions to existing standards before their release. In a year where our existing standards will undergo updates, consolidation, and potentially new ones being developed, the Board’s involvement is vital in aiding the Panel to introduce the right standards to the market at the right time. It’s a remarkable way to deeply engage with the Panel and share your voice at the decision-making table. We encourage all our eligible stakeholders to think about participating in this regard.
Alicia Malone: Excellent. If someone is keen on running for the Board, where should they begin?
Diana Greenhaw: The initial step would involve perusing all the details accessible on our website. Head over to www.PCISecurityStandards.org and explore the Get Involved section, where the 2025 – 2027 Advisory Board elections link can be located in the drop-down menu. This is a valuable resource detailing the entire process, schedule, and answers to common queries.
Soon, we’ll also be launching some impactful video endorsements from our present Advisory Board members to provide a direct insight into their journey. Lastly, ensure your primary contact can access the portal and is familiar with the nomina…ly intrigued by your involvement.
Alicia Malone: I await those video recommendations from present Board members as they always offer an exceptional view of their experiences. Thank you for your presence today on Café with the Panel, Diana, and for sharing your insights on the Advisory Board election process.
Diana Greenhaw: Absolutely, delighted to contribute. I’m also keen on watching those recommendations. With the Board expanding, I hope we receive an unprecedented number of nominations.
