X marks the (porn) spot

Be aware, the platform has long embraced erotica. In the year 2022, Dyson, Mazda, Forbes, and PBS Kids halted their advertising campaigns and eliminated ads as they were showing up alongside tweets seeking child pornography.

Personally, I’ve encountered plenty of conventional erotica advertisements showcasing young ladies with verified checkmarks enticing me with affection at affordable rates. Truth be told, I primarily visit for discussions on technology and chess, cheesy jokes, adorable pet images, and to share captivating articles. If I were in search of romance in unconventional places, I wouldn’t be seeking it on X.

I am not alone in this sentiment. A recent comment on Reddit amusingly pondered, “Has Twitter become merely erotica and erotic bots now?” This was before the company officially embraced “Mature Content… any content that is produced and distributed with consent, showing adult nudity or sexual activities that are pornographic or meant to induce sexual excitement.” (In case you’re curious, the general opinion in that Reddit conversation was that indeed, X is mostly erotica and passionate political monologues nowadays.)
