Windows Recall is now ready for limited preview testing

There is a high chance that the quantity of Windows Insiders examining the functionalities will be quite limited in this initial phase, as the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2415 (KB5046723) is only accessible on Copilot+ PCs equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. According to a blog post by Microsoft, support for devices running AMD and Intel processors is on the horizon.

The announcement signifies a significant progression towards the full release of a functionality that was criticized as a “privacy disaster” when it was first introduced in May.

A planned launch in June was delayed in response, and Microsoft has taken steps to tackle security and privacy apprehensions via various updates. These actions consist of making the functionality “opt-in,” necessitating biometric authentication with Windows Hello prior to usage, obstructing the detection of personal information like credit card details and passwords, and the incorporation of a “virtualization-based security enclave” (VBS Enclave) to safeguard data on the user’s device.
