The research agency describes a AI Personal Computer as a system that possesses an integrated AI chip and algorithms custom-crafted to enhance the utilization of AI tasks within the central processing unit (CPU), graphic processing unit (GPU), and neural processing unit, or NPU. (NPUs facilitate the acceleration of AI algorithms on PCs by transferring specific tasks.)

“While individuals have been utilizing AI on client operating systems (OS) for an extended period of time — consider features like background blur or noise filtering — the majority of AI computations are still carried out on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Teams,” disclosed Forrester in a study. “AI Personal Computers are currently transforming the cloud-centric AI paradigm by localizing these computations on various devices operating on any OS.”
