This week’s dialogue deviated from my expectations! The unpredictability of the situation, especially when it concerns an unexpected individual being the target, adds an extra layer of significance. Observing comments like “if Troy can be targeted, so can anyone else” brings forth a sense of awareness. Though it’s uncomfortable to phrase it this way, I acknowledge the sentiment and the subsequent awareness it brings. The incident was unpleasant, yet I am determined to leverage it significantly within the industry. I firmly believe that this event will bring more benefits than drawbacks. Stay tuned for the upcoming blog post on “Passcodes for Regular Individuals,” which I aim to discuss in detail in the next video (depending on my travel plans). And now, here’s the comprehensive breakdown of how I fell for the phishing attempt:
Resources
- Presented by: Malwarebytes Browser Guard, for a safer, faster browsing experience by blocking phishing, ads, scams, and trackers
- While being the victim was unpleasant, I believe setting a new record of 34 minutes from being compromised to public disclosure is noteworthy 😊 (this will be the goal for many data breach incidents in the future)
- Despite missing a noticeable red flag, the positive public response and media coverage have been remarkable (this was from this week’s sponsor, and I think their article captures the essence well)
