- Secure Socket Layer VPN – It now accommodates key sizes of 3072 or 4096 bits for the Diffie-Hellman key exchange to enhance secure communication and meet compliance standards. In addition, enhanced UDP-based SSLVPN tunnel resiliency has been included through a detailed dead peer detection timeout setup.
- Internet Protocol Security VPN – Better stability has been achieved for offloaded policy-based VPN IPsec traffic, resolving slow browsing concerns.
- Network Address Translation 64 – The firewall facilitates IPv6-only clients to reach IPv4 websites via an explicit proxy. It also offers support for an IPv4 upstream proxy for clients utilizing IPv6 exclusively.
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol – The DHCP service now possesses enhanced resilience and can auto-restore in the event of an error state.
- Mobile Wireless Area Network – This firewall now provides improved cellular WAN monitoring by automatically designating “8.8.8.8” as the second probe target. This resolves the challenge of ISPs blocking gateway pings, minimizing the necessity for manual configuration.
- SD-RED compatibility – SD-RED devices now have the ability to receive remote troubleshooting and diagnostics from Sophos Support.
Acquiring the Firmware and Manuals
Sophos Firewall Operating System v21 MR1 is a complimentary upgrade for all licensed users of Sophos Firewall – including XGS Series, cloud, virtual, and software firewalls.
Note: XG Series devices are on the verge of obsolescence and must be transitioned to XGS Series devices promptly; they are not supported by v21 or v21 MR1.
This firmware update will adhere to our conventional update process. You can manually retrieve SFOS v21 MR1 from Sophos Central and update whenever convenient. Alternatively, it will be automatically distributed to all connected devices in the upcoming weeks. An alert will be displayed on your local device or Sophos Central management console when the update is ready, enabling you to schedule it according to your preference.
