The workers have spoken: They're staying home.

In the past, I used to commute from a Manhattan workplace while residing in New Carrollton, MS. How was it possible? I commuted via Amtrak each Monday for work and returned home on Fridays. I’d playfully mention that I had a “commute” – first to my nearby train depot and then from Penn Station to the workplace. There were brief hours in between when I would work from the dining carriage.

However, more frequently, I opted to work from my residence.

When I made the decision to relocate to Asheville, NC, in 2001, my employers consented to my move on the grounds that I assured them I could always catch a last-minute flight if my physical presence at the office was crucial. Yet, I also mentioned my skepticism of any such scenario arising.
