The CEO of Open AI, Sam Altman, penned a captivating piece in The Washington Post concerning the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI). He cautioned that authoritarian regimes like Russia and China seek to manage the advancement of AI technologies — a move that could potentially endanger humanity.

An example of this is when Russian President Vladimir Putin remarked that whoever emerges victorious in the AI competition will be the “master of the world,” while China has articulated its ambition to lead the field in AI by 2030. Altman emphasized the importance of the United States and its partners collaborating to ensure that AI serves as a tool for liberty and democracy.

In order to accomplish this objective, Altman advocated for significant investment in security, infrastructure, diplomacy, and dialogue.
