We are excited to announce a significant enhancement for our Network Detection and Response (NDR) solution: customers now have the option to implement NDR on certified hardware to cater to environments with high traffic volumes.
Main advantages
Sophos NDR, when run on approved virtual appliances (like VMWare ESXi, MS HyperV, and AWS AMI), is presently limited to handling 1GBS of network traffic. This limitation can be problematic for customers dealing with elevated traffic levels or operating in distributed branch locations.
The introduction of ISO image deployment for endorsed hardware provides support for small, medium, and large network environments, allowing for a bandwidth of up to 40Gbps and 120K connections/second.
License details
There are no changes to the licensing terms: Sophos NDR product licenses are determined based on the number of users and servers within the setup, and customers have the flexibility to deploy as many Sophos NDR sensors as required.
Procedure for acquisition
Both customers and partners can opt for the new certified hardware ISO during the appliance configuration process in Sophos Central and proceed by following the provided deployment instructions for certified hardware.
Hardware prerequisites for certification
- Customers should procure certified hardware from approved vendors like Dell in order to use the ISO image.
- Strictly deploy the ISO exclusively on certified hardware. While the image might function on other hardware, it will not be supported and could lead to operational problems.
- The responsibility for purchasing the hardware along with any related warranties lies with the customer. Sophos lacks a reseller agreement with certified hardware suppliers, and the hardware cannot be acquired through Sophos.
