For IT and devops, Sequoia brings iCloud to VM Macs

When a VM is transferred to another Mac host and restarted, the Virtualization framework automatically generates a fresh identity for the VM by retrieving data from the Secure Enclave of the new Mac host. The user of the VM will have to authenticate again to enable iCloud functionality.

Moreover, the Mac system is capable of identifying any effort to initiate multiple replicas of the same VM concurrently on the identical Mac host.

Business-optimized Macs

This is just one of the myriad of enhancements disclosed at WWDC that will be available for Macs and other Apple gadgets starting this autumn. The enhancements encompass device governance, passcodes, software upgrades, and Safari administration.

Administrators can remotely deploy executables, scripts, and setup files through MDM, facilitating organizations in deploying and managing services across their device fleets. Apple Account (now known as Apple ID) handling has also been refined to incentivize organizations to utilize Managed Apple Accounts.

Another notable enhancement is related to Activation Lock. Previously, there were instances where fully operational Macs being passed down for refurbishment or legitimately sold on the secondary market became unusable due to individuals overlooking to deactivate Activation Lock. While Apple did offer a solution for such cases, at WWDC, they unveiled new functionality in Apple Business Manager that enables IT administrators to eliminate Activation Lock, thereby alleviating the issue of unintentionally bricked Mac devices.
