Mobile phone shipments globally rose by 5% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same time frame last year, as per a recent report from research company Canalys. This amounted to approximately 310 million devices and represented the most successful third quarter for the mobile market since 2021.
The surge in growth, as identified by Canalys, can be attributed to heightened consumer demand and the aggressive rollout of multiple new products, including Samsung’s most recent mobile series and Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup.
Throughout the quarter, Samsung upheld its dominance in the industry, capturing 19% of the market share, closely pursued by Apple at 18% and Xiaomi at 14%. Following suit in fourth and fifth positions were Oppo and Vivo, each holding a 9% share of the market.
