Proton introduces a ‘privacy-focused’ substitute to Word and Google Docs

Proton has revealed a document editor with end-to-end encryption that offers a different option for privacy-oriented individuals compared to Microsoft Word and Google Docs.

Announced on Wednesday within Proton Drive, the platform from the Swiss software developer renowned for its encrypted email service, contains a variety of features for document creation that are commonly sought after by office professionals.

Users have the ability to generate and modify documents, collaborate with colleagues in real-time, provide comments and responses, as well as import and export various file formats like .docx and .txt. This application is accessible within Proton Drive, a secure cloud storage solution introduced by the company in 2022.
