The latest regulations set by the US government have created obstacles for Western tech firms in exporting specific computer parts to China. As a response, Nvidia is currently working on developing a tailored AI chip variant that can be marketed in China while being compliant with the new regulations.
As reported by Reuters, this new chip originates from the B200 series, a part of the Blackwell lineup launched in March. The specialized edition, named B20, is anticipated to deliver responses to chatbot queries 30 times more swiftly than its predecessors.
Currently, China contributes to 17% of Nvidia’s revenue, a percentage that has declined from 26% two years ago.
