Microsoft merges Teams discussion and channels in UI update

Fresh filters in Teams now enable users to focus on conversations, channels, or messages that have not been read.

• One of the modifications includes a new view for @mentions, which emphasizes recent messages in multiple discussions or channels.
• Additionally, there is a “personalized section” where individuals can centralize discussions related to a project or subject — whether in conversation, channels, or with a Teams bot — within a single location.

When the updates are released for public preview next month, Teams users will encounter a “self-service, guided introduction flow,” Teper explained. This will assist in familiarizing users with the fresh appearance and allow them to adjust it to match their preferred working style. For instance, those who opt to maintain separate chat and channels can do so either during the introduction or at a subsequent stage.
