Is there a delay in performing updates due to a convergence of factors?
The adoption of Windows 11 appears to be slow due to a combination of circumstances that have rendered the upgrade unappealing to many users. Even though the upgrade itself is offered at no cost, there are underlying expenses that need to be considered, primarily for enterprise clients, as stated by Ranjit Atwal, a senior director analyst at Gartner. These costs involve evaluating application compatibility, migration, and support.
The minimum system requirements for Windows 11 are more stringent compared to Windows 10, resulting in difficulties for PCs manufactured in the years leading up to its release in meeting these criteria. This obstacle may have caused users to hesitate in transitioning to the new operating system.
Furthermore, the upgrade process is facing additional setbacks due to budget limitations currently being experienced by IT departments, as well as shifts in the market dynamics where “PC vendors are enticing businesses towards pricier AI-equipped PCs,” according to Atwal. This evolving landscape is also “heightening the risk of missing the Microsoft Win10 support deadline,” he added.
