A recent analysis by Arize AI, a platform specializing in examining public statements by large corporations, has revealed that 56% of the top 500 companies in the US view AI as a “risk factor,” as reported by the Financial Times. This marks a significant increase from the previous year, where only 9% shared this perspective.
The research further indicates that a high percentage of leading media and entertainment companies in America – 90%, to be precise – and 86% of technology and software companies view the rapid expansion of AI systems as a risk to their operations. The concerns highlighted include heightened competition, ethical dilemmas, and the potential impact of AI on fundamental human rights, employment, and individual privacy.
Within a subgroup of 108 companies that specifically addressed generative AI (genAI), only 33 regarded this technology as a promising opportunity. These organizations emphasized the advantages of gene platforms and tools in terms of cost efficiency, operational enhancements, and expediting innovation. Conversely, a significant majority – two-thirds of the companies – viewed genAI as a risky proposition.
