Welcome to the “Life in the Swimlane” blog series. Here we will feature interviews with Swimlaners to learn more about their experience. This series will give you a preview of Swimlane, our culture, and the people who keep us going.
Meet Chris Mallow, Partner Solutions Architect at Swimlane.
Originally from Oklahoma—fifth-generation, with family who filed in the 1889 Land Run— Chris got his start in tech in the late ’90s during the Dot-Com Boom, working at his first startup just as the bubble burst. That experience launched him into a career in cybersecurity, focusing on DFIR, security operations, and Blue Team work.
He has been with Swimlane for three years, but he was a happy Swimlane customer at three different companies before joining, something that ultimately drew him in.
He lives in a busy, blended family with his wife and five children, navigating life with the same problem-solving spirit he brings to his work.
What does your job entail?
I work with our partner organizations—resellers, channel partners, distributors, MSSPs, and technology partners—to help them understand, integrate with, and sell our software. I’m fortunate to travel extensively and work with amazing people from all over the world. My experience doing the work in cybersecurity, combined with my time as a Swimlane customer, helps me speak their language and show how our platform can make both our customers and partners more effective.
What do you enjoy most about working at Swimlane?
What I like most about Swimlane is how genuine everyone is. There’s a real understanding that we’re human first, not just here to do a job. Well-being is valued, and you’re never just a number; people genuinely care about each other and look out for one another.
What excites you most about your work?
I have tremendous autonomy and nearly endless opportunities to add value. I love being able to put my skills to real use, tackling real-world challenges and helping our partners solve problems for themselves and their customers. This is my first 100% remote job, and while it has its ups and downs, I really enjoy the flexibility. On top of that, Swimlane does an amazing job of recognizing people across the company who step up and get things done, a quality that’s rare in many organizations.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I’ve tried many different hobbies, but most of my time is spent with my wife and kids. I also love singing, usually karaoke, and playing mandolin, mostly bluegrass and Irish tunes. I’m a Freemason and actively involved in lodge and community activities. At the same time, I really value downtime to relax, read, enjoy a cup of coffee (or bourbon, depending on the hour), and just recharge.
What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?
When I was 11, I played John Darling in a professional production of Peter Pan. The absolute best part? Getting to fly!
Your motto or personal mantra?
VINCAM AUT CONTENDENS MORIAR (I will overcome or die trying)
Three words that best describe you?
Integrity, Commitment, Execution
What Swimlane core value resonates with you the most?
“Punch Above Your Weight Class”
What type of impact do you want to leave on our industry?
In a successful society, trust is key, and I want integrity to be a key part of our technology environment again.
