As per reports from Bleeping Computer, Microsoft is developing a new Windows capability called “Quick Machine Recovery.” This functionality will empower IT administrators to address systems that are unable to boot remotely using targeted fixes through Windows Update.
The introduction of this new tool is a significant move within the Windows Resiliency Initiative, which is aimed at preventing a recurrence of the widespread disruption that took place in July 2024. During that incident, a faulty Crowdstrike update resulted in a situation where numerous Windows devices worldwide were rendered inoperable, causing disruptions in critical sectors such as hospitals, emergency services, and airlines.
Microsoft is set to bring the Quick Machine Recovery feature to the Windows 11 Insider Program during the beginning of 2025.
