Deepmind, a division of Google specializing in AI, has showcased two cutting-edge artificial intelligence platforms: AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2. These systems have successfully tackled intricate mathematical challenges, marking a significant breakthrough in the realm of artificial intelligence, based on information provided by Reuters.
The current AI models function by identifying patterns and making predictive statistical analyses, such as forecasting the next word in a sequence. However, this approach alone is insufficient for handling abstract mathematical concepts, which demand a more human-like reasoning ability.
During this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 managed to solve four out of six questions. While one question was resolved within minutes, others required up to three days to find the solution, exceeding the competition’s allotted time frame. Remarkably, AlphaProof successfully cracked the toughest problem in the contest, a feat achieved by only five out of the 600 human participants.
