Symbol Zero CEO Rafael Brown expressed, “The only function of genAI is AI illusion. It simply mixes elements together, akin to throwing noodles and sauce at a surface and observing what adheres. This process is determined by the preferences and dislikes of the observer. There is no genuine order or rationale. There is a lack of genuine structure, context, simulation, or procedure. It lacks expertise, insight, sentiment, assessment, motivation, synthesis, repetition, modification, or innovation. It parallels a word scramble or a random word generator. It doesn’t even match the standards of games like Scrabble or Boggle. It’s more fitting to view it as AI Mad Libs — relying on AI Mad Libs for your business, future, and innovation is not advisable.”

Another concern is the potential likelihood of genAI self-destructing as it begins to consume itself, leading to the extinction of all reality-grounded information. This is the viewpoint of Pascal Hetzscholdt, the senior director of content protection at publisher Wiley.

He suggested, “Models such as ChatGPT4 need to undergo continuous retraining using fresh data to maintain relevance and effectiveness. Consequently, generative AI is gradually eroding itself by being trained on its own outcomes or those of other AIs.”
