CrowdStrike failure: What you need to know

For illustration, over 3,000 flights within, into, or out of the US were called off on July 19, with over 11,000 experiencing delays. Aircraft remained grounded in the following days, resulting in close to 2,500 flights being canceled within, into, or out of the US, and over 38,000 delayed, three days post the incident.

The breakdown also had a substantial impact on the healthcare sector, leading to some health systems and hospitals deferring all or most procedures, and healthcare providers reverting to using pen and paper due to the inability to access EHRs.

Considering the nature of the solution for numerous businesses, and the widespread use of CrowdStrike’s software, IT departments have been exerting continuous efforts to recover their systems, with many still grappling with this task several days after the initial flawed update was rolled out by CrowdStrike.
