“This pact marks a significant stride in nurturing the semiconductor landscape in India,” voiced Pareekh Jain, Chief Executive Officer of Pareekh Consulting. “The US serves as the primary destination for semiconductor consumption, hosting numerous major semiconductor corporations. Nearly all top US semiconductor firms operate research and design hubs in India. Some enterprises such as Micron have also commenced production activities in India.”
The alliance between the United States and India signifies a move towards broadening the global semiconductor supply chain in the long run, as indicated by Akshat Vaid, a partner at Everest Group. “Presently, the sector is predominantly concentrated in select key regions like Taiwan and South Korea. Despite grappling with various regulatory challenges, China is also gaining traction in the semiconductor domain.”
An imperative worldwide supply chain under scrutiny
In the backdrop of the ongoing global digital evolution, semiconductors have evolved into the cornerstone of a multitude of sectors ranging from automotive to healthcare. The pandemic has starkly exposed the vulnerability of the semiconductor supply chain, leading to global deficits that disrupted various industries extensively.
