Are you capable of accessing your manager’s emails through Copilot?

A fresh set of tools and a reference have been unveiled by Microsoft to resolve security concerns linked to how the company’s generative AI (genAI) Copilot assistant manages data. Specifically, the AI’s indexing of an organization’s internal information might result in the assistant disclosing confidential details inappropriately.

According to a Microsoft staff member familiar with customer feedback, as mentioned by Business Insider: “At present, once Joe Blow logs in and launches Copilot, they gain visibility into everything. Suddenly, Joe Blow gains access to the CEO’s correspondence.”

Business Insider’s article indicated that this conduct led several companies to postpone the utilization of Copilot for security grounds. A Microsoft representative mentioned to the publication, “Numerous governance dilemmas related to AI weren’t triggered by the emergence of AI itself.”
