AMD enhances AI capabilities in latest series of corporate PC processors

Meanwhile, the starting model is the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 featuring 8 cores/16 threads, a clock speed of 5GHz, Radeon 880M graphics, and matching 50 TOPS NPU performance.

Neural Processing Units are now at the forefront of the competitive landscape in desktop computing, as they enable functionalities like boosting Microsoft’s Copilot + and handling AI-intensive duties such as instantaneous language translation.

This development also places AMD in direct competition with its traditional adversary Intel, which has integrated NPUs into its Core Ultra CPUs since 2023. Presently, AI acceleration through NPU technology comes at a premium cost, yet indications suggest that this technology is poised to swiftly transition into more mainstream processors.
