Rebel Faction Utilizes SSH Brute-Force Technique to Spread Cryptojacking Malware on Linux Systems
Experts in the field of cybersecurity have revealed details about a “self-replicating” botnet designed for mining cryptocurrencies called Outlaw (also known as Dota), which specializes in exploiting SSH servers with vulnerable login credentials.
“Outlaw is a form of malicious software developed for Linux systems, which carries out attacks via SSH brute-force methods, cryptocurrency mining activities, and a propagation strategy similar to a worm to infect and maintain dominance over various systems,” as outlined in a recent report by Elastic Security Labs
