Speedify VPN Review 2025: Features, Security, and Performance

Important Information about Speedify VPN

Our rating: 3.1 stars out of 5.00

Pricing: Commences at $7.49 each month

Notable features:

  • Exclusive free version.
  • Possible integration of multiple internet connections.
  • Access to servers from 55+ locations.

As the title implies, Speedify VPN puts an emphasis on velocity to distinguish itself from the rivalry. It offers unique capabilities like a bonding feature that merges various internet connections for enhanced speed and the option to distribute cellular connections among other Speedify users.

Despite the attractiveness of these speed-focused attributes, Speedify lacks fundamental security and privacy elements that we would anticipate from a VPN in 2025. Furthermore, it is priced relatively higher than other VPNs with a smaller server coverage, making it more challenging to justify against alternative options that are richer in features, more secure, and more economical.

Details on Speedify VPN Pricing

Annual Three-year plan Monthly
Speedify Individual $7.49 per month $4.99 per month $14.99 per month
Speedify for Families $11.25 per month $7.50 per month $22.50 per month
Speedify Teams $7.49 per user per month N/A $14.99 per user per month

Preferably, users desire VPN subscriptions to be priced at approximately $4-$5 each month for an annual arrangement and between $10-$12 monthly. However, Speedify VPN subscriptions lean towards the more expensive side.

Geared towards individual users, Speedify Individual is priced at $7.49 monthly for the annual arrangement and $14.99 each month for the monthly arrangement. This package enables up to five simultaneous device connections, but this falls short compared to alternate VPNs like CyberGhost VPN which allows seven simultaneous connections and Private Internet Access, which offers unrestricted connections.

Additionally, Speedify presents Speedify Teams, featuring centralized account management. Nonetheless, it does not present reduced rates per user as opposed to its regular monthly pricing, unlikeWindscribe or TunnelBear teams’ execution. The implementation by teams from Speedify could be improved through the introduction of discounted pricing to encourage more organizations to invest.

Speedify offers a variety of subscription plans including monthly, annual, and a three-year option for both Individual and Teams memberships.

For those considering a subscription with Speedify, the three-year Families plan offers the best value. At a rate of $7.50 per month, this plan provides five accounts with up to five simultaneous device connections, all at the same monthly price as an Individual annual subscription. This option could be particularly appealing to small teams and businesses.

A fully free version of Speedify is available without the need for any personal information or credit card details. However, there is a data cap in place, limiting free users to 2GB per month.

Speedify VPN Free Version

Speedify provides a complete free version granting users access to the VPN without the need for email registration. Nevertheless, there exists a 2GB monthly data cap, allowing for approximately one hour to a full day of usage, depending on the usage pattern.

My experience using Speedify’s free version has been positive in terms of speed. Unlike many free VPN services which are often sluggish to encourage users to upgrade, Speedify’s fast free version could serve as a tool for users to experience its VPN’s high performance, prioritizing speed over the amount of data provided.

If you find yourself in need of a free VPN without data limitations, it might be worth exploring Proton VPN instead.

Speedify VPN Pros

  • Delivers impressive speed and performance.
  • Includes a free version.
  • Boasts a unique multi-internet bonding functionality.
  • Facilitates cellular network sharing among its users.

Speedify VPN Cons

  • Lacks an independent audit.
  • Does not support OpenVPN or WireGuard security protocols.
  • Free version data is limited to 2GB per month.
  • Considered expensive among its competitors.
  • The official site collects more data than preferred.
  • Issues may arise with the DNS leak protection feature.

Security: Is Speedify VPN safe?

Several critical security features are missing in Speedify, making it difficult to deem it a secure VPN service. The absence of leading security protocols like OpenVPN and WireGuard, replaced by Speedify’s proprietary protocol focusing on speed optimization, raises concerns.

The lack of OpenVPN, renowned for its robust security, is a significant security drawback. While prioritizing speed is beneficial, allowing users to prioritize security over performance should also be an option.

For encryption, Speedify employs the military-grade AES-256 encryption alongside the ChaCha cipher for older devices. It also features a built-in kill switch and protection against DNS leaks.

Although Speedify promotes a no-logs policy ensuring it does not track browsing activities, visited sites, or applications used, the lack of an independent audit undermines the credibility of its security and privacy claims.

Curiously, Speedify’s privacy policy

Based in the US, a member of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance known for surveillance activities, Speedify may not be the ideal choice for users prioritizing security. Alternatives like NordVPN and ExpressVPN offer better security measures.

Key features of Speedify VPN

Speedify VPN emphasizes improving internet speeds and performance rather than focusing on privacy and security measures that safeguard user data.

Channel Bonding Technology

Speedify arrives with a distinct Link Consolidation feature that blends two or more internet origins to bestow a quicker and more dependable connection. By distributing web traffic through multiple associations, it accomplishes this task.

The evaluation of Link Consolidation was performed by amalgamating my Wireless Fidelity and my mobile phone’s cellular data through USB tethering. This action yielded an uptick of approximately 18.6% in my upload pace but ensued in a decline of 30.21% in download speeds.

These results exhibit variance, nonetheless, it is crucial to acknowledge that the consolidation attribute can foster not solely the celerity of your connection but its stability as well.

Captive entry assist

Contemplate the authentication web pages that arise when you connect to the costless Wireless Fidelity network at a café or an air terminal. While numerous Virtual Private Networks demand disconnection for verification in this step, subjecting you to potential risks, Speedify encompasses a captive entry assist feature that upholds your connection to the Virtual Private Network while inputting your credentials.

Particularly beneficial for remote laborers who could employ free Wireless Fidelity and still yearn to sustain a secure connection while accessing these unprotected networks.

Couple & Distribute

This marks another pace-enhancing attribute that authorizes numerous Speedify users logged into the same local network to distribute their cellular connections amongst each other. When situated within a team of co-user Speedify beneficiaries, you’ll possess the ability to bond with their cellular networks if they exhibit superior signal strength or a more prompt connection.

If you habitually journey with your team, this method serves as an exceptional approach to secure additional steady internet promptly.

Performance: Is Speedify VPN fast?

In full disclosure, I predominantly utilized the Complimentary rendition of Speedify during this evaluation. Unlike other complimentary Virtual Private Networks, Speedify maintains that they do not constrain the speed of the Virtual Private Network on their costless variant in contrast to their paid equivalent. This grants users a straightforward avenue to scrutinize the pace of Speedify VPN without procuring an initial subscription.

Earmarked as a celerity-oriented Virtual Private Network, Speedify substantiates its label. Throughout my evaluation of the Virtual Private Network within my standard workflow, Speedify’s connection appeared nimble. My operations encompassed working on Google Workspace applications such as Docs and Drive, engaging in online video meetings, streaming music, and browsing the internet for exploration. Websites loaded effortlessly, and no interruptions in connection were encountered during the Virtual Private Network evaluation.

Regarding speed assessments, Speedify VPN Complimentary documented a 45.28% escalation in download speeds and merely a 1.94% depreciation in upload speeds vis-à-vis my internet service provider. These statistics are commendable, verifying that Speedify’s pace affirmations are corroborated by real-world efficiency. Transitioning between servers and erecting connections within the desktop application also transpired rapidly and seamlessly.

Regrettably, the dialogue regarding Speedify’s Domain Name System leak performance presents a conundrum. In the preliminary examination, there were two occasions of Domain Name System disclosure by Speedify. Astonishingly, subsequent to the third and fourth occurrences, it seemed as though the Virtual Private Network stabilized, and following an evaluation with a Domain Name System leak tool, zero leaks were registered.

The reasoning for this discrepancy in Speedify’s DNS leak performance is uncertain. Subsequent investigations may elucidate the anomaly.

The complimentary version of VPN, a glitch, or a more fundamental problem. Nevertheless, from my testing, it appears that Speedify’s leak protection for DNS is irregular compared to other VPN services, so do take note of that. If you desire a VPN with more consistent leak protection for DNS, my suggestion would most likely be either NordVPN or Proton VPN instead.

Speedify VPN Servers and locations

One of the major downsides of Speedify is its limited server network. While Speedify does not explicitly state the exact number of servers it possesses, reports estimate it to be about 200-300. This pales in comparison to the typical VPN suite, which usually boasts around 4,000 servers. The same applies to its dispersed servers across countries and locations; Speedify only operates in 37 countries and approximately 57 locations.

For instance, Proton VPN offers over 11,500 servers from 117 countries; ExpressVPN provides around 3,000 (as reported) servers from 105 countries; and Surfshark grants access to more than 3,200 servers in 100 countries.

Speedify does provide dedicated servers, but these are only available as optional purchases for Speedify Teams. This offers more dependable and quicker speeds, a fixed IP address for secure services, and port forwarding functionality.

If having a diverse server network is crucial to you, Speedify might not be the most suitable choice for your team.

Speedify VPN app experience

I utilized the complimentary desktop version of Speedify VPN on my Windows laptop, and it operated smoothly. I could explore most features effortlessly and faced no issues connecting to Speedify’s servers.

In terms of aesthetics, Speedify’s user interface (UI) is neat, yet it could be more user-friendly. Particularly, the server list isn’t prominently placed like in most VPNs; instead, you need to access it through the settings menu.

This additional click might be slightly inconvenient if you frequently switch between servers and could be challenging to locate for users with less technical knowledge. Personally, I believe the desktop app experience of Speedify would significantly improve if more features weren’t tucked away in the settings menu.

Nevertheless, I do appreciate the overall design of Speedify, as its flat and straightforward UI resembles a contemporary iOS application.

Is Speedify VPN worth it?

Although it fulfills its speed commitments, Speedify VPN lacks the essential security elements we expect from a VPN service in 2025. Its exclusion of the OpenVPN protocol, data logging on the website despite claiming a no-logs policy, and the absence of a third-party audit make it a tough recommendation in terms of security and privacy.

Furthermore, its limited server network restricts flexibility for users looking to unblock geo-restricted content. Coupled with its relatively high pricing compared to more cost-effective options offering larger server clusters and improved security, Speedify falls short.

I would suggest considering Speedify only if speed-enhancing features such as Channel Bonding and Pair and Share could genuinely enhance your personal or team workflow. Otherwise, it would be wiser to explore other VPN alternatives like NordVPN or Proton VPN instead.

Speedify VPN alternatives

In mydetailed examinationProton VPN attained a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5.

CyberGhost VPN

Additionally, servers are categorized based on their suitability for streaming, torrenting, and gaming. In my in-depth evaluation, CyberGhost VPN achieved a rating of 4.3 stars out of 5.

Evaluation Approach

In evaluating Speedify VPN, I conducted a thorough analysis of its attributes, pricing, and real-world effectiveness. I extensively tested Speedify VPN’s complimentary version, supplementing my insights with user feedback and reliable reviews.

For performance evaluation, I utilized Ookla’s public Speedtest to assess download and upload speeds. Moreover, I repeatedly conducted DNS leak tests using DNSLeakTest to verify Speedify’s DNS leak prevention.

Lastly, I rated Speedify VPN on various aspects, including security protocols and pricing, employing an internal algorithm to assign a rating of 3.1 out of 5 stars. In this evaluation, I compared SpeedifyVPN both independently and in comparison to other VPN offerings in the market.
