Anticipating the future
At the beginning of each new year, Apple traditionally experiences a slowdown. Hence, it is logical for Apple to decrease production of its most advanced device in anticipation of a quieter sales period. Ceasing production in November is a strategic move in this context — especially given the upcoming launch of a more affordable device that also operates on visionOS, a development that has been eagerly awaited for months. A recent article from “The Information” reaffirms this idea — and suggests that work on the second generation of the “Pro” device has been postponed by a year, a speculation that had been circulating previously.
The article also mentions a possibility of Apple launching what they describe as an “incremental” update to Vision Pro with minimal modifications, such as an advancement in the chip technology.
Considering that the Vision Pro is powered by an M2 Apple processor, it would make sense to enhance its performance with the M4 chip, particularly as Apple is gearing up to unveil new Apple Intelligence functionalities on visionOS next year. However, 2025 is also anticipated to be the year when Apple will introduce a more compact and budget-friendly visionOS-run system, possibly powered by an iPhone as its central processing unit.
