Intel, AMD unite in new x86 alliance to tackle AI, other challenges

Tech rivals Intel and AMD have revealed the establishment of an x86-processor consortium that aims to confront the growing demands of AI workloads, specialized chip components, and advancements in 3D assembly and system structures.

Included in the x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group are Broadcom, Dell, Google, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, HP, Lenovo, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, and Red Hat. Noticeably absent: TSMC – the globe’s top chip manufacturer. Linux initiator Linus Torvalds and Epic Games President Tim Sweeney have also joined.

The major tech corporations plan to cooperate on architectural compatibility and anticipate to “streamline software development” across the most widespread computing structure across the globe, based on a news update.
