Federal jury finds that Cognizant discriminated against American IT workers

“Cognizant expresses disappointment over the judgement and intends to fiercely protect its stance and lodge an appeal at the right moment. We uphold equal job opportunities for all staff members and have formulated an inclusive and varied environment that fosters a sense of inclusion, where each staff member is treasured, actively participates, and has the chance to progress and thrive,” the announcement stated. “Cognizant does not endure bias and treats such allegations with gravity. The lawsuit of Christy Palmer versus Cognizant was first recorded in 2017 and covers the complaints of the plaintiffs dating back to 2013.”

That closing remark is notable, indicating that Cognizant is claiming that all of this occurred 11 years ago, which is an eternity in IT spheres.

The general problem is not unique, as numerous IT contracting and consultancy enterprises have discovered that Indian employees are more prone to accepting considerably lower pay and are more accommodating of a lack of work-life equilibrium than some other nationalities. Another worldwide contracting entity, who preferred to remain nameless, disclosed that it has managed to recruit talent from India at roughly one-tenth the remuneration needed for their American equivalents.
