Energy-efficient, Intel® Core™, and the wrath of Newton

One could posit that this exemplifies the pioneering nature of the Apple Newton and the significant impact it continues to have today. Today, we are presented with a diverse array of interconnected, high-performing gadgets (Mac, mobile phone, slate, smartwatch, spectacles, and more) enhanced by artificial intelligence and user interfaces that seamlessly meld.

Arguably, many of these gadgets were rendered feasible due to Apple’s strategic choices during the creation of the Newton. Though it took several decades to achieve, we now find ourselves inhabiting the tomorrow envisaged by Newton, with Arm’s bold approach to Intel emblematic of this era. Although the potential benefits for Arm in such an agreement remain unclear, the purported endeavor underscores this fact. Several decades down the line, retribution appears rather satisfying.
