The big reveal: Apple’s iPhone 16 'Glowtime' event

Predictably, Apple Insight was omnipresent during Apple’s grand iPhone event on Monday. New smartphones were, of course, present (enhanced, swifter, AI-compatible, and set to launch on Sept. 20). What proved more intriguing were the myriad ways the organization has identified where it can have an impact with diverse types of artificial intelligence (AI).

The array of applications – from identifying sleep apnea in the Apple Watch to utilizing AirPods Pro as a fully-fledged hearing aid to a range of fresh camera functionalities (including the innovative Cinematic Slow Motion feature) – all served to emphasize the point Apple has been emphasizing: there exists more to AI than GenAI, and AI genuinely holds no significance unless it’s creating an impact in individuals’ lives.

Sweet Sixteen (and Sixteen Pro)

As is the tradition in early September, the focal point was the launch of new iPhones, the 16 and 16 Pro, which didn’t offer any substantial surprises. For individuals who prioritize aesthetics over functionality, this year’s novel Pro color is a warm, brassy, bronzy “Desert Titanium.” The iPhone 16 is available in five hues (if black and white are included as colors), which includes “Ultramarine”; while the Pro and Pro Max are offered in four: white, black, natural titanium, and the Desert Titanium mentioned earlier.
