Film industry performers’ union SAG-AFTRA has announced a collaboration with talent platform Narrativ that allows marketers to purchase the rights from actors to replicate their voices through artificial intelligence.
As per reports from Reuters, this agreement enables actors to determine the price for their digital voice duplicates, as long as it meets or exceeds SAG-AFTRA’s minimum compensation for audio-focused promotions. Companies are also required to seek consent from the actor before using any ad featuring a digital voice duplicate.
SAG-AFTRA representative Duncan Crabtree-Ireland expressed, “It is understandable that not all members will be interested in seizing the possibilities presented by licensing their digital voice duplicates. However, for those inclined to do so, there is now a secure option available.”
