Microsoft warns of serious vulnerability in Office

Microsoft is advising all users of Office and Microsoft 365 to promptly update their software, as cyber attackers have initiated exploiting a significant flaw to gain access to confidential data stored on computers.

In order to ensure complete protection against this flaw, known as CVE-2024-38200, users must apply a security patch that is scheduled to be made available to the general public on Aug. 13, the designated Patch Tuesday for this month, as per a report by The Hacker News.

The security updates released on Tuesday will also address other well-known vulnerabilities, such as CVE-2024-38202 and CVE-2024-21302, which could potentially be leveraged by hackers to revert Windows to a previous version.
