According to Bradley Shimmin, a leading analyst specializing in AI platforms, analytics, and data management at Omdia, Google has a significant opportunity to incorporate AI more securely into Chromebooks compared to competitors like Microsoft integrating with Windows devices. This advantage stems from Google’s complete control over the technology.

Shimmin commented that Google exerts full ownership over the laptop once it is placed on the user’s desk, dictating how software functions on the device. This position allows the company to offer a greatly enhanced security posture compared to other operating systems.

Additionally, Google mandates that all ChromeOS devices utilize secure boot mechanisms. This ensures that every time the machine powers on, it operates without any preexisting malware risks. Furthermore, the operating system implements robust sandboxing for each application and webpage to mitigate the exposure to potential risks, as mentioned by Shimmin.
